A captivating excursion into the world of the National Library of Tatarstan

On the 29th of January students of Master’s Degree from the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication visited a beautiful place with a huge history – National Library in Kazan.

On the 29th of January students of Master’s Degree from the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication visited a beautiful place with a huge history – National Library in Kazan. The place is filled with the charming smell of books occupying all the shelves in the building and power of knowledge leading students to success.

The excursion was conducted in English to make students more immersed in the combination of work and pleasure. The students were guided through all the rooms and facilities the library provides including two big reading halls where you can better concentrate on your task due to complete silence. Much to students’ delight they saw for themselves various exhibitions presented in the library and, what’s more, one of the most special and fascinating theatres in or city – “MON”. They were mostly impressed by the fact that it offers quite many inclusive performances with very talented young actors.

It is also worth mentioning that the students were genuinely encouraged to come back to the library especially when they entered the main gallery there. It was such a fortune for them to not only observe the works of three prominent local artists but also get personally acquainted with one of them – Vitaly Skobeev. Vitaly accompanied the students throughout the whole gallery excursion to open new perspectives for them in the creativity of his father and son. The group had the opportunity to discuss three different art periods and the messages implied in them with the artist: impressionism, romanticism and realism.

That excursion helped the students to discover such a comfortable and equipped place for their studies. Some of them even added that it felt like home there because the furniture and lightning bring the coziness inside. We want to thank the organizers from the library for expanding our view on the local sights and our dear professors from University who inspired us to discover new things outside the classroom altogether.
